It is located on the far southeast side of the Gulf of Makri. In 1920, the British described Makri as having the finest natural harbor in Asia Minor and was also noted by the British for its forests. Today, Nissos Makri is a private island, with a total surface of 993,900 sqm and a stunning seashore, whose perimeter has been measured at 7,280 m.
